Mr David Pembroke – Company Founder and Director
David Pembroke began his business career in the early 1970’s and managed his family’s hotel before attending the University of New South Wales where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a marketing major in 1984.
On graduation he joined the American multi-national 3M where he worked as a product manager in the consumer products division. His key responsibility was to manage a marketing and advertising budget of $2.5 million and be the link between the 12-member national sales team and the Marketing Director. During his three and a half years at 3M David learnt the value and discipline of strategic planning, negotiation, how to manage and motivate a team and how to get the best value out of third party providers, such as advertising agencies.
David then changed careers and followed his ambition to become a news and current affairs reporter. Beginning in community radio, David worked his way through regional radio to join ABC Radio current affairs in Sydney as a junior reporter in 1989. David also had the opportunity during his time in Sydney to co-host the weekend sports program, Grandstand. In 1993, David joined the ABC Current Affairs radio team in Canberra as a member of the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery. He spent three and a half years reporting on national affairs before leaving the ABC in 1997 to start contentgroup. David identified an opportunity to blend his business, marketing and communication skills to offer a service to the public and private sectors.
David is a highly regarded communication professional with a strong reputation for creativity and getting things done. He writes a weekly column for the City News in Canberra and appears regularly on ABC radio.
